50 years of hunting and only 3 bands. I took an 11 year old out several years ago to show him how to hunt. First bird he shot was a banded bull Sprig. I think he has about a half dozen bands now. Just a matter of being in the right place or being lucky.

Sorry about the grammar and misspelling I was listening in on a speaker phone (work meeting) when typing my previous post. Recently I volunteered to go out on a banding capture. Night banding running air boats and capturing birds with nets. It was really interesting and I would recommend volunteering if possible. I got to watch radio transmitter packs get placed on birds along with the regular leg bands. It can be a dirty job and my hats off to the biologist and techs that run the projects. downwind

    Camo is overrated.

I’ve helped to band 15,000 geese and this band is for the guys who don’t report bands.

This is what happens when you hunt near a Refuge that bands a lot of Waterfowl.

45 seasons under my belt now. 22 mallard bands (+1 reward) 27 canada bands (+3 collars) 2 wood duck bands(+1 web tag) and 2 morning dove bands.
They reside on a retired lanyard in the gun safe.

I use the duck and goose bands from DU banquets to put on my mounts!

35 I think... lots of great memories. Sad now, too, how many are affiliated with people and dogs that are no longer with me...
