@Bear. Well, in Wisconsin channel cats will once in a while grab a lure. It’s only happened to me a few times in my life.
I've caught quite a few flatheads while trolling or jigging for stripers. One of my largest was caught on a little george
Fish for them then. I like to drift river holes and bump bottom with a rod in my hand. A good hole you can't put a rod in a holder because you'll either hang up or multiple rods will go down at once. Come up here with me during the free fishing days so you dont have to get a ky license. I catch blues and flatheads with fresh cutbait.
I think we have more channels than blues and I've caught them bass fishing on spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, perch fishing on beetle spins and crappie fishing on jigs.
I've caught plenty of channel cats, flatheads, and even a few bullheads on lures....run a Rapala along a shoreline undercut and boom! I've never fished waters with a real blue cat population.
I do a little bass fishing in the spring, mostly when I'm having issues getting enough bluegill for flathead bait. Them big flats will hammer a small bass.
These catfish will hit an arm. How the hell do they know they are not reaching in and grabbing a snapping turtle or a gator? Crazy Roll Tiders.
