The Battle Coots have been deployed... and they are doin work bloodying noses.

This one spent the weekend protecting the northern border from several flocks of Bluewing teal that thought they could slip across undetected. They were mistaken....

These two teamed up in a central MN farm pond. The young lady woodduck couldn’t resist and stopped to say hello.

Seems to have been an influx of Gingers coming across in the dark. The gentleman who is in possession of this Battle Coot is new to the sport having picked it up in his retirement. And is not so good at on the wing Duck ID yet. So he was advised of his Redhead limit and decided it was best to stop for the day.

I’m sure he’s itching to get in the action.
