I would wait until next year and order your DSDs early.

Nothing wrong with wanting to look at a good looking rig.

Makes you wonder how well do birds actually see.

From an engineers perspective id assume they see "faster" and further. Detail? Good question.
Seeing faster means taking more pictures per second and processing them faster than non flight animals. They have to see fast and react.
    Thats an assumption.
    Further? Same assumption.

To fly without running into things requires perfect vision.
The detail part...how do you give a bird an eye test? Im not sure they can handle much detail along with being fast and far sighted. Their brains are tiny.
Slowly developing an argument that lifelike details on decoys is meant to sell decoys to humans not birds. I bought it too.

On the other hand tiny birds like finches see little tiny black niger seeds and hear it when I toss out a handful onto ice. They zoom in to feast.
We don't understand enough about birds to argue. I dont. I bought nicer decoys that are realistic.
It got harder and harder to kill a greenhead. Stupid ducks.

The big bird brains who study such things tell us waterfowl have the hardware to distinguish detail at 2-3 times the distance we can. What they do with that info, however, plainly depends greatly on their programing...

I'm sure they can, yet guys on Delmarva kill them with homemade Vboards and Silo's when guys cannot finish them with fully flocked rigs.
Some go with high visibility (B&W)
    other detail DSD.
I guess it's what works for you

I run both ends of the spectrum with a large silo rig for massive fields and traffic then realistic fb’s for small fields and exactly on the x

yup, killed many a geese with home made silos, tires and under many types of decoys from small, medium to massive junk yard spreads but still love to occasionally hunt with just a few stuffers. I have also sat and watched pressured birds circle and circle over a live feed and move on when you would've bet every bird around would've just cupped up no matter high up and drop into a field of live birds.

I say if you got the funds and want the best decoys you feel are out there to attract them then go for it. anything that makes you feel a bit better at your chances whether you are trafficking birds or on the x. some days you can't do anything right and other days you can't do anything wrong with birds tolling in when you are out in the deeks taking a wiz.
