I've always had pretty cheap binoculars, but I'm ready to bite the bullet and buy one that is at least slightly higher end. At least by my price range and standards. Any recommendations? Need to keep it under $500.

Vortex makes really good glass at a lot of different price ranges. And they by far have the best warranty policy out there

If you are looking for functional and easily portable, a Leupold Rouge 10x25 can be had for about $100.

Steiner Predator are Ok...just don’t ever look through a pair of Swarovski, Leica, or Zeiss....you’ll throw the Steiners away.

Whatever you choose, just make sure they are water PROOF, not water resistant.

Why waste your time and money, save a little longer and buy a pair of Swarovski SLC 10X42, no even their high end. You will absolutely NEVER regret the purchase. The only glass guaranteed submersible waterproof

Burris Droptine 10x42 $280.00. Very nice nocs for the money, good wrap shoulder harness, rubberized housing...I like them.

Vortex or Maven which is US made have models in your price range. Depends on what you are using for - under few hundred yards versus glassing hillside a mile away then the differences really show up.
