Buffleheads - Bandsaw Demo

    Her are some photos of my process of bandsawing bodies. I use a cradle method for cuting out the bottom pattern. Pattern used here is a modification of Willy's (The Buck Blind) bobtail Bluebill.

    First photos are of layout after blocks are squared up on the table saw.

    Layout and cutout for side profile. Side profiles are modified to work in conjunction with the heads attitude.

    Here I re-attach the "cradle" cutout from the side prifile. Body is then turned upside down so the bottom profile can be cutout.

    I remove the cradle that was temporarily attached with a screw. The screw was placed so the hole will be used during head attachment. The bodies are now ready to be shaped with a draw knife.

    Nice and easy way to do it. I was just wondering what kind of wood that is??? Hard to tell, it looks like you have a 3 inch and 2 inch glued together right??
