Hi all, I just got an email from the DEC LI Waterfowl Committee chair. As a result of the Atlantic Flyway meetings, it looks like the following changes will be made to the proposed 2014-2015 Long Island Zone Waterfowl seasons. The eastern goose zone will be expanded to 70 days. Because of the short notice, the season dates will be the same as the Central Goose Zone (Nov 27 - Feb 4). The brant season will NOT be expanded to 50 days as anticipated. At the Season Setting Committee meeting in April, we set a contingency plan for a 30 day season. That plan will be the one used. The first split will be Nov 27 - 30. The Second Split will be Dec 31 - Jan 25. Finally, the Canvasback limit will be one bird per day. All other daily bag limits will remain the same. Frank
Correct me if I'm wrong but that seems more liberal than what we had prior to the moratorium. Good news!
