i don't use the crockpot but just the old fashioned Betty Crocker Cookbook recipe with thick egg noodles. Kids seem to like it. I also us plenty of Jamison or Orrington chicken soup base.

    Hm.
We get a whole baking chicken then cut it up ourselves. We cook it in Swanson chicken broth. Skin on.
We add frozen vegetables and spices after deboning the chicken and cutting it up.
End up using 2-3 boxes of that chicken broth.
We add celery and fresh cut up onion.
    Some garlic.
My daughter calls it "dad soup" and calls for it when she is sick. :yes
Hard to go wrong on chicken soup.

One trick is we pour all the broth from cooking the chicken into a tall glass and use a turkey baster to suck broth without fat to add back to the soup.
There is more than one way to de-fat the soup but some is good. Too much is not.

    Doh?
I didn't see the word "noodle" :doh

I have been going with one whole chicken then about 8 thighs. Carrot, celery (I try to use the center with the leaves), onion, and peppercorns go in with the initial chicken boil then diced go in after de-boning. I will have to add the baster to the repertoire. Thanks for the tip!

For sure you're right using the heart and all the celery leaves. Pepper is one of the spices we use. I forget until I do it. It dont need salt that broth is pretty salty.

Try adding home made fresh noodles or frozen and it's noodles soup I guess.

Get you a couple of rotisserie chickens and use the carcasses to make stock for your soup in the crock pot. Way better than just the canned stock (and better for you)

This! I can’t fathom making chicken noodle soup without first making my own stock. Just so much richer & tastier than any store-bought stock. Adds another day or so to the process but worth it!

I made rice Friday (leftover-was thinking about making some fired rice), made homemade Chicken veggie (w/frozen mixed veggies & legs and thighs) soup yesterday may put it all together & have Chicken & Rice soup. Too bad I don't have any "wild rice!" Forgot I used a small bit of "Better then Boullion" Chicken base.
