This is true with all great managers.
And a great manager can do the employees work!
Good post Grif, and I totally get your method of dealing with what can be a very stressful job. I dealt with the other side of the coin, that cops only friends are other cops. Other cops are very in tune with everything the job entails, usually to a greater degree than most of the general public. I hung out with friends, but some of my best friends were cops too. Sometimes you could see an immediate change in people when they learned you were a cop. I actually got to the point of telling people I worked for the city, when they asked what I did for a living. It's a unique job, for sure, and everyone handles it the best way for them. Stay safe brother.
My BIL was city policeman in an Eastern Il. town, now retired. I have nothing but respect for all of you and thank you for your service. !!!
When did "I don't hang out with people from work" become such a controversial statement?
It can be traced back to your first day of employment
I did spend time with other cops over the years, but I always kept non-cop friends. In order to stay grounded in the real world, church was a good place for me. Still have cop friends in retirement, but my closest friends aren't.
Mad respect . I don’t have a horse in the race, but anyone who responds to criticism in this fashion has my respect. Good or bad, right or wrong , this is how disagreements should be voiced
