    Check out what was in the field where my pit is in Water Mill. This was the first time I've ever seen a Barnacle Goose before.

    Great pic.
    I think we are going to see some oddball birds this spring with the way the cold dipped south so often during the winter.
    There was a pic in the Syracuse paper this week of a harlequin on the Oswego river.

    Nice find!

    I got a few pictures of a Barnacle goose about 8 years ago in Tonawanda, near Buffalo. Only one I've ever seen. You always have to wonder if it is a captive bred bird, but no way to really know unless you see clipped toes or a band.

    I saw a pair of Harlequins on the Ramapo River in Rockland County last week. Weird never saw any before.
