Remember when the riots were going on, the virus was kicking in, rifle and pistol ammo was disappearing off the shelves, and shotgun shells were still readily available at pre-covid and pre-inflation prices? That was the time to stock up. You had to be blind not to see it coming.

^^^ Yep! Crazies were stocking up on TP, smarties were buying ammo. With ammo, one can always get TP....
That is a fact. I was going in to buy some target loads and people were wheeling out carts of TP. I went to sporting goods and they had the Federal loads on clearance for $2.50/box. 5 flats later I had a cart full of target loads and went out thru the garden center to avoid the tp people.

Have noticed in past couple days online inventory reduction sales starting at many places with good reductions in pricing on hunting and some target loads. Time to get them cases for next waterfowl season. Never know what next year will bring.

I paid $12.99 per box for three flats on 3” Monarchs in early November. Price has held, but local store has sold out as soon as it hits the shelf ever since our season opened.

When availability once again outpaces demand, prices will come down due to competitive pressures. We may never see pre pandemic prices again, but 2.75” Xperts for $20 per box won’t last forever.

I have an ample supply of duck/goose shells. In the fall of 2021 ammo seemed particularly scarce. A guy who I indirectly know mentioned that he needed a few boxes. I offered to sell some to him for what the current cost was. He acted like I was ripping him off because he knew I didn’t pay that much. He couldn’t grasp that if I sold them for what I paid and I went to replace what I sold, I’d basically be giving him $15 and a box of shells. He got none.

I still have 3 cases Winchester #2's and 2 cases of BB I got from Mack's back in the day for $99.99 each case and free shipping up on the hunting cabinet in the garage that I didn't get around to shooting up before I hung it up.
Hold onto it as an investment opportunity in the near future.

Imagine the price and availability of steel if on line sales were banned.

I can't imagine not being able to chase ducks because I can't get or afford steel.
We would use lead!

MPW this weekend had my Bismuth 28 gauge #6's but they were $59+ per box. I will wait until hopefully a sale. The had several cases of 28's upland Winchester but they we 3/4 oz. I prefer the 1 oz. I will keep looking. I am well stocked at the moment. I don't expect the prices to come down very much.
