hearing similar reports from friends who are recreational and commercial.

heard they have started to run better this weekend and heard a good report from someone today that was doing well filling up baskets.

Frigging jumbo lump $49 a pound down here in Virginia! We'll see what shakes out for the rest of July.

I'm just gonna wait till august-October like usual to hit my local spots. Some recs are getting 1/2-1 bushel, but they have to work for em. I'm not gonna bother when it's 1 crab a run. That makes for a long day. Not a clam guy either. Yes I know They work great, too much work baiting and Unbaiting, and expense.

    and yes it's spotty.

on a related note, I have pretty much quit rockfishing. Heart just isn't in it. I'll give them a break. Took my nephews cat fishing on the Chester Sunday. Wanted some blues, but all we got were big channels. Go figure. The blues were certainly there this past fall. They loved it. Drop and reel for 5-8lb fish. Kept some abs fried them up. They were excellent. Took the time to trim all, I mean All the dark meat. Made all the difference.

I ran down south a few weeks ago and filled a basket pretty quick with my daughter. We had fun, but as expected crabs weren't too big. Looking forward to bigger crabs pushing north.
