I have several of the Dakota brand fb decoys that have turned blue.
Anybody else have the same issue?
Dekes are a year old and either need repaint of return.

Cheap Chinese paints that the pigments are not UV resistant. Have seen it happen to several brands of decoys made in China. All you can do is repaint them. I use an airbrush and acrylic house paints that I match the colors on with sample paints from big box stores where they will make you a sample size of flat. 4 ounce of paint in an airbrush goes a long ways and they will not fade or change color like that.

We used 4 dozen Dakota FB mallards for years and never had that issue. They were picked up every day.

Should make repainting easy.
These were left out all season.

You can expect discoloration with just about all recently produced decoys if you leave them out all season. G&H and Flambeau have about the only paint that won't discolor. I have GHG and AvianX wigeon that have both done it. The pinkish colors turn to purple.

Dakota specs have the same problem.
I see alot of off season painting in my future as well as less investment in Dakota brand.

Just a word of wisdom, spend more on an airbrush and avoid causing yourself a headache spraying acrylic latex paints. Do a little research as you will need to learn how to properly thin the paint with a medium so you don’t lose adhesion. You’ll also want have a decent compressor, forget the small hobby compressor that you paint fingernails or models with, when painting lots of decoys I use a two gallon portable or just run off my garage compressor, it takes a bit of pressure to push thicker paint. I use a Paasche dual action airbrush with the 2 ounce bottle attachment. When I’m going to paint I’ll set out all one species at a time and know which color I’m running in what order and finish the details with brushes. Lot of dry brushing to add feather details. It is up to you on whether you go gunning style or museum quality, I don’t have the museum quality ability like some guys on this forum!

Yes found out oil is easier to clean in airbrush than latek. I use Paasche dual action and it is pretty easy to use.
