Early in the season I am hunting sloughs/swamp areas. When things freeze up, BIG river water with heavy current. The H frame or dog earred weights have never walked on me yet. The only time my decoys move is when they let water out and the river gets deeper than I have line for.

Find someone to make you a mold. Casting your own is easy.

Darkvibe, I have a twin to your mold. Unfortunately mine is so big a could use it for a boat anchor. I think I need to go to mold 2.0 and pound the street a bit for a better lead supplier.

    Thanks for the response.

Do what I did, buy more decoys and rig them for deeper water and current.

That ^ is the correct way to do it.
Do NOT make a mold out of wood. The smoke from casting lead weights in a wooden mold will be bad enough. The fact that the mold will last for casting only about 10 weights kills the deal.

In deep water long lines or gang rigs shine. I would not enjoy single rigging when much deeper than 10-12’ of water.

The dog-ear weights are pretty versatile but the absolute worst to use.

You just do a half hitch over the ear in skinny water easy peasy even with heavy gloves on
