Montauker - good point. We are updating our harvest derivation (what populations the geese being killed come from) for the flyway and we will be focusing on the derivation not only at the state level but also by zone (AP and RP) within the state. The derivation within the AP zones will likely be quite different from the statewide numbers for a state like VA that has a large RP zone and relatively small AP zone.

Here is the map for VA with the 2015-2017 AP recoveries. The AP zone is the darkest shade.

    Ungava,

I've talked to numerous people in the md dnr over the years regarding Howard and SE Caroll counties being in the AP Zone and have always been told the same thing..."Banding data shows a high number of AP band recoveries in these counties." Well, now we know this is false. Are there any serious discussions in moving the AP Zone east?

How do you know it's false?

What do think overall numbers of geese killed in those counties vs the shore?

Because a total of 5 AP bands were recovered over a three year period in Howard County.

No, not considering moving the RP line east, especially now with AP numbers down. As the zones stand now we meet the criteria without any problem and we want to keep it that way.

Thank you for the update and link.

Any changes being proposed for Maryland RP zone dates or limits?
