PG, Thank for being a level headed person on this issue & showing you have some common thinking on the issue. Whay kills me is this, You & 90% of the people you work with feel the very same way about these issues. They are the ones that are suppose to be giving recomadations to the higher ups so they can use your expert opinion to make sound judgments. Why is it that when everyone at a lower level gives their 2 cents worth & everyone agrees that the same things need to be done, by the time it makes it to the ones that have the final say so, it gets sent back down the pipe that 180% oppisite of what was recomonded to them is to be done? I have talked to no one in a field position that thinks these things are good. But when it come out of the mouth of a desk jockey in the big office, they will allways say it's the way to go & they say thats what our people recomended to them to do!

I have a question to ask if you will answer it!

If it all the people I know & have talked to and it is their job to give input said these are not good thing & these are the people who are suppose to be the one giving the input to them & what is being done does not match their feelings, then if it is not them, then who are the people they refer to that is giving this input & feels these are the best ways to go????????

I would LOVE to see the city-bird watchers the first day they are in the swamp when they hear all the shooting. I remember my first day of Arkansas Timber hunting. I was in the middle of no-where. Sun up came and gunshots were everywhere. I was truely astounded at the pure number of people out hunting. And I am a hunter. Some northern tree huggers will be overwhelmed I think.

Its going to blow their minds, good thing for them water levels are way down or it could be worse.

Now that the leaves are off the trees( especailly after the wind we have had) the IBWP watchers will be here in droves.

For those that like to bet, is there an over/under on whether any peckerwood watchers get into a tussle with the hunters sat morning?

    plum freaking nuts....

The problem for AGFC and USFWS.. is both tried to do the foolish thing and make everyone happy..... and worse they did not listen to biologists and scientists but to popular and pressured opines...

about 30% of the birders know all about duck hunting and hunters and respect them.. the other 70% well......they despise hunters....

Their is more video, audio and photographic evidence.... the ownership of the evidence does not want it released(in most of the cases I am aware of)....

as for leaving things the way they were. well......that probably would have led to more clusters.....

I agree if people can't make it into and out of a swamp under their own merits... they should not be there...

personally.. I thought the powers that be were going to provide duck and other hunters with some protection (cuz they will need it).... what hunting doesn't need is a bunch of chartruese and fuscia kayaks with holes in them....

the real unfortunate thing here is that hunters are going to get some serious negative press - regardless of how well they behave.. cuz a gazillion birders are going to blame the duck hunters for them not seeing the bird... nevermind one of the best sightings by the searchers last year came between 2 duck blinds... that were shooting (about 500 yards on either side) last duck season.....

of course there will be birders that will have pellets raining on them thinking they have been shot at.......

Sorry, I haven't been able to answer your questions more quickly.
    Stumpy:
I don't know of any other evidence concerning the Ivory-billed Woodpecker. You've seen everything I've seen. There are recordings that are being analyzed, but to my knowledge nothing new is available.

    Old DH:
I have no idea what you're talking about.

capieo, it comes back to my first post on the situation. you/we can't trust the gov./or the ark. woodypeckerwood and fish commission. they can't tell the truth to the public for some reason. probably money in hand. i've asked the mouthpiece of the ark woodypeckerwood and fish commission to come on and answer a question but he's hiding and i don't blame him because i know he won't answer the quesion and won't do what i am going to ask of him. why? they do not want the truth out. plain and simple. again, it's all about money and who got it and is getting it. and it's sad that hunters are going to be the ones hurt.
