so we can take people on guided peckerwood "hunts" for money on the wma without a permit? is that what you are saying? and i'll see if i can get my man to go take pictures of the road in question. one of your people tells us one thing and your "public relations person" tells us a completely different story about the road. so pictures will prove one is lying and one is telling the truth. i'm betting the public relations person needs to go to church and repent sunday.

I think it may be more exciting to go down to Cotton Plant and Brinkley this weekend and watch the fights between birders and hunters, then the any football game this weekend. :yes

What would the penalty be for shooting a IBWP, a bird that doesnt exist?

    Keith,

So at the end of this winter, when there is still no proof, is everyone going to settle on the fact that this is a hoax, perhaps file a suit against these "scientists" and Cornell, and repay the taxpayers all the money we've wasted on this?

Look at all the people over there looking for the bird right now... and they still can't find one.

Is it a federal offense to shoot a listening device?

I can just see all them "birders" jizzing all over themselves everytime a pileated woodpecker flies through the treetops. "I SEE ONE!!! I SEE ONE!! Oh wait, that's not it. Anyone got a new pair of tighty-whiteys? I shot my load to early."

    Stumpy,
There's no shred of evidence that this is a hoax. There are a lot of people who have staked their reputations on these sightings. Will they find a nest or a roost hole this winter? I don't know. I do know that the ornithologists and searchers will try everything in their power to capture a photo, video or recording of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker. With that said, there's always going to be some well-founded skepticism until undeniable proof is brought forward. There's nothing wrong with that. That's the way it should be. Remember, the sighting may turn out to be the best thing that could have happened for hunters. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service just purchased 1,800 acres to add to the Cache River National Wildlife Refuge. That's more public land for hunters.

    Old DH,
No permit has been issued for Ivory-billed Woodpecker guiding on the state's WMAs. There is no permit. As for the road, please explain what you're talking about and I'll make sure I get you information on whatever it is that you're insinuating. By they way, I do attend church regularly. Thanks for asking.

thanks for not answering the question. then i suppose it's ok for me to guide people to see woody peckerwood for money on the wma. correct? and since no permit is needed that's more money to me/us.

and no on the road. it was not you i was "insinuating" that gave out bad information. so baring any other conflicts you are safe as far as the repenting goes. all i asked was is it fine to get pictures of the road and post them here and then we can go from there on who gave out the bad information and why. when you get two completely different stories about this road from ark woody peckerwood and fish people someone is not telling the truth.
