I'm not too worried about the cold, by the time it gets too cold, the spot where I would be hunting with the 'yak will be froze over. As for anchoring it, I have the front end of it anchor in the rod tip holders that are standard on the frontier.

I can’t see your last pic, but if I were you, I’d just go with a frame behind you, and make a ghille blanket for your front. If you hunt it right, ducks will never see you. The frame behind you allows you to get away with a little bit of movement.

Woops, it's uploaded to Google, so I guess it's private. Here it is

I haven't had the time to work on the hood, but I've started putting wire fencing over this piece. I think it will turn out ok.

The Frontier 12 has an ultra low seat base which basically puts you comfortably on the floor, much better than the lowest setting on their 360 degree seat base. You can’t swivel with the ultra low base but it’s gets you low, and is just right for me. I can cinch up the side strap, and release it, to lower and raise the back as needed. I also hunt the layout blind made by NuCanoe for the Frontier 12 and its awesome, easy on easy off, rolls up, its a great hide, some of the best money I’ve spent.

Here is the blanket system I have for my pintail

It is a combination of rafia grass and trim pieces of fast grass panels. Zip tied to plastic hardware cloth and pvc poles. The poles hook to pex pipe brackets to keep the blanket in place.
