Maybe, but I know doves eat wheat.
My dad tried that several years ago with a 50 # bag of rice. Rice stayed out there all season long.
Can't honestly say if they do or not, but was scouting a rice field just after teal season last year that was right up next to some woods, and saw a doe belly deep in water on in the rice field munching away. Don't know if she was eating the rice or the weeds but when she saw me she took off sending water everywhere.
bd, i think your state raises lots of rice in places. if you are close to a rice mill down there see if you can buy some rice bran. deer love rice bran but not whole rice. and not rice meal. most people just pour it out on the ground. i feed it in a covered feeder to keep it from getting wet from any rain. you know the stuff comeer deer is made out of? rice bran.
Are they Asian deer ? ......if their normal habitat is near rice fields then they will adapt but if you threw a 50lb bag of rice in CenTex the only thing you will feed is birds and mice
Not tryin to feed it to em. Just seen em in areas that have rice planted there now. And was wondering if it would be a food source.
i've seen several deer in rice fields... it is a grass after all....
I second that ....
So, deer in the hill country, West Texas and South Texas have a fondness for corn because of all the corn grown in those regions?
I must be missing something....
