Dad used to feed the squirrels a peanut out of his hand . I was always on him about the risks of it .
When we took the grandkids up the damn things swarmed them for a peanut. I told him a dozen times to stop, eventually he got bit . Didn't have to take the shot because squirrels aren't carriers of rabies I guess.
Even after threatening to boot stomp the next one that got close to one of the grandkids he didn't stop . Guess he really enjoyed their company. After his passing , I found at least 100 pounds of peanuts and 10 to 15 feed sacks of ear corn in a shed
I dumped the ear corn behind the shed in December and when the house got sold in May it was all gone .
Glad he enjoyed them , I don't have any use for squirrels myself.
