Wanted to document my kennel installation as a finally have it set up the way I want. I haven't seen two kennels set up this way and documented.
Gunner kennels recommends putting the two kennels side by side and attaching the outside edges to the truck and inside edges to each other. This sucks.
You can't see out the back and there's wasted bed space. I wanted to put the kennels along the edge of the truck. When I did that, the straps on the inside edge would work loose. It would not have held up in an accident.
I ended up replacing two of the DECKED bolts with eye bolts.
For the eye bolts, they are 2-5/8" long (1/4"-20/Coarse Thread).
I threaded the nut all the way up the eye bolt, added a flat washer, then a rubber washer. Removed the existing screws and installed the eye bolt assembly.
Now I have plenty of space for my yeti and a 12v for the Gunner fans.
Hopefully this helps someone set up their Gunner Kennels.
