The day before we left for the elk hunt, we managed to get the new boat muddy and bloody. Had a quick shoot and scratched out a mixed limit of teal, mallards, redheads and a gadwall. Even managed to shoot a honker.

The boat was everything I expected. Lots of room, got us to our spot quick and handled well. The amount of open space compared to my old 1448 is epic! Luke likes his new hunt deck and his custom made dog ladder.

Luke was steady, handled as necessary, and picked up a triple in the order sent. That meant he had to jump over a redhead when I sent him for a cripple and again when he was sent for bird two. Then he picked up the redhead about 6 feet away from the boat. Very proud of this dog. All in all, a great way to start the season.

    Swans will be here soon...

    Good looking hound!

Who's the guy that looks pissed off about shooting limits? Or do his waders leak?

I get asked what's so funny a lot, or why I'm smiling.

My wife says someday someone is gonna punch me in the face for smiling at them or saying hello to people I don't know. I'll take my chances.

Trust me, he’s a happy kid. I’ve known him for 30 years. He’s one of two people I hunt with. I’ve known the other one for 26 years. I trust them both with my life. They’re the best hunting partners I could ask for.

Nice birds, you had a good day. Family and I lived in Vegas for four years, great hunting memories (Overton WMA, Key Pittman, Ash Meadows, Sunnyside) We had a spot on the Virgin River that was fantastic, until a flood came thru and destroyed it!

Nice rig and limit. I really like that dog ladder, and kudos to you for not using that damn expanded metal that can rip a dog’s claws out.

Hey Mark, what are the two blue cabinets in the background upper left in this picture? 3D printers?
