I shoot quite a few wigeon/widgeon.
I found this fella extremely handsome compared to the normal drake.

I always enjoy the variable head colors and patterns of drake wigeon. The hens show differences too. My favorite specie by far.

That's kinda funny because you rate wigeon lower and they're one of the best tasting birds here. Second only 2 teal. Pins and spoonies are right there with them. It must be the aquatic grasses they feed on in the bays.

Your pic is giving me wigeon withdrawls. Good tides in the southern bay tomorrow, hoping to whack a couple.

We rarely see wigeons anymore in an area where we used to have 70% of our take as wigeons. My son Caleb picked up this trio today, love january birds. They decoyed great today, just wished there were more around.
