I am trying either Monday or Tuesday on public waters on a good spot I found. I figured the weekend would be way too crazy and hope they are around next week.
I did pattern some geese while dove hunting and will try that on Saturday. They have been flying over the same spot about 20 yards over me. Hopefully that is the same on Saturday. I pulled the ten gauge out today and decoys yesterday. I am ready!
50 years ago I had a nice no competition place to hunt teal on the Arkansas River a few miles below the Keystone Dam. The spot served me well for 6 straight years. It’s funny that I never once saw a big duck there. I plan to go to OK next week and hike in to a remote shallow backwater area. I’ll let you know if I find any significant birds. Last year I shot Green Wings, Mallards and Woodies in there in January.
