If you don't draw a Controlled Deer tag you can still buy an over the counter General Deer tag here in Idaho as a resident. Plenty of places to hunt with that tag.

Was talking with my nephew last night and discussing big game hunting and he says services like OnX and others with all the services and data, are giving people where to apply and where to go without having to do all the homework. One spot he hunts - over last years, people from Midwest and East coast show up in middle of no where and in numbers never saw before and when talking with them, go yes planned with OnX and said this spots have best odds, here are where people are hunting, so he thinks while you have it on private they are still harvesting data. It is not just On X but the 4 or 5 popular GPS programs. It took him several years to find these spots, now down the drain.
