Good luck on your hunt.
I can hardly wrangle up 2 guys for a guaranteed limits duck hunt let alone trusting them on an elk hunt. Lucky you.
Good luck, stay safe. Send pictures.
If you were to draw a Nevada tag for the Northeast part of the state, I could help and pretty easily find some additional help.
I loathe the concept of hunting anything with a guide as well. It's just not in my nature. If you are fit and competent with a bow, you don't need a guide to hunt elk. Just do your research and be prepared to work your arse off if you get one. That said, if you haven't done it before and your goal is to fill a freezer they'll get you on elk quicker and can help you deal with it once it's down. The logistic of dealing with a downed elk solo from Florida would be a bit daunting. BTW... no meat on this planet is better than fresh elk backstrap.
We are archery and bring right now
We m waiting on my daughter where I have cell reception
The pic is where we are camped
Idaho archery elk opened on the. 30 th
Montana’s archery some units opens tomorrow
While a flight of geese landing by the hundreds is exciting it isn’t lite a bull charging in to tear you a new one
Won’t be hunting where we were this morning a bear had torn the hide off an elk .
and never has goose hunting been as exciting as seeing a grizzly staring back at you
Here’s my take on elk hunting. It’s freaking fantastic!!
All of you folks east that want to do it, I truly believe it is way over thought. Way too much “it is overwhelming”.
It really isn’t. Ton of OTC archery tags everywhere. Plenty of rifle zero point draws.
The key is don’t truly expect a kill. Honestly, it’s rare to get sprinkles on your ice cream immediately. You’ll see elk, you’ll even be close, but....most OTC elk hunts run around 10% success. 1/10 kill. Don’t mean 9/10 didn’t have a trip of a lifetime.
Do it. Life is short.
Here’s a Rocky bull and Rosie bull.
Drew a Rocky tag this year. Fingers crossed.
Nice pics, blacktail.
Here's my best elk pic
I’d want some help around in Grizzly country. Someone to at least watch my back with a loaded firearm at the ready. I’m not scared of bears, and fighting a Grizzly to the death actually sounds like a cool way to die, but not while I’m still in my 30’s.
Geez, you have over $1500 in coolers.
