Time to get to work. Caught a few dinks, but not a bad way to kill 90 minutes before work.

At my daily spot (recliner where I drink coffee), I can look to my left at my 160,000 acre pond or straight ahead at a woodpecker compromised power pole which is currently hosting a pair of redheads and a pair of flickers. Due to lake, lots of “edge” and plenty of hardwoods, the number of birds and species is amazing.

Think I’m gonna finish this cup of coffee and go fish before work.

I have never in my life seen a power pole tore up by woodpeckers. I assume they don't soak them in creosote down your way? So bugs get in? That's wild.

Around here as they replace poles they cut the holes out of the previous posts, mount them to the new poles. I don't see them feed on anytime in the poles, but lots of holes made for nests.

Even the power company has never seen one that bad, and they are treated like poles everywhere. It’s neat to watch them redheads and flickers just a few feet away, but I just know that sucker is coming down sooner or later.

It’s strictly a nesting deal. No bugs in the pole.
