First and last time I ever tried moonshine I was around 15 or 16 and working on my uncle's hog and tobacco farm in Kentucky (he was a sharecropper) and I remember him letting me have some and it burnt all the way down.

I'm Not Even Sure Anymore
Used the recipe in a Foxfire book back in high school to make a batch. It was for a school science fair. We were pretty proud of ourselves because we used an electric pressure cooker instead of a still pot.

Got an A and also a threat/warning to never do that again.

Took our product (3 whole quarts) to the various high school graduation parties and it was unanimously heralded as “harsh” and “nasty”

When I was 17 I converted a stove top pressure cooker into a still could only run small batches of mash so after getting a few gallons. I would then Take and put 2 gallons back in cut with water and re run to clean it up decent drink. They way to do it nowadays is through a reflux still heated with water heater element controlled by a reostat and a tall copper column make amazing booze better than anything out of a pot still.

In the late 70s an aquatance shared what was given to him, , he did like the taste
Tasted like a mix of pesticides and gasoline..

I had been offered shine a few more times when I was younger I would smell it and ilit all smelled like that dust offer I had nothing to do with it.
But all those offers came from people who got it from somebody else because they were giving it away.
My theory is if they were giving it away it couldn't be any good..

I trapped on a farmers place who was just getting into ethanol and had just acquired license to make "spirits"
"Heres some , drink what you want, and put the rest in your truck"
Made for better truck fuel
