Hmmmm hedge is one of my least favorite sounding woods, not to mention the swelling that goes on with it. I get all my calls sleeved with coco. Perfect blend of soft and crisp, as well as being less prone to swelling and changing sound.
Hell add Cocobolo to the arsenal too! I like Hedge,ABW, Cocobolo and DIW. I used a hedge FTM all last season ( all of your least favorite things) and man the ducks went crazy for it! Now I'm feeling like a reaaaallll idiot that it was all of your least favorite things!!!!!!:dv

There are two kinds of ducks. Two kinds of callers.
We hunt the dumb ones like this guy. He responds to cartoon-like duck calling.

The more refined duck hunters target this guy and have to actually sound better than any live duck can ever do. Quit getting us confused.:l

Appears that the LED lights in the shop running opposite of the calls in my regular pictures makes the CA finish look wavy. Didn't think of that when I replaced the bulbs with an uncoated plastic. Well poop

Now you're starting to tempting me.
That green hedge...how?
I assume green means cut alive.
I get a hard-on over hedge calls despite the lack of love from the pros. Snakewood is pretty.

Green Hedge refers to the color. That is caused by the acids in soil. Normally it comes from the portion of a fence post that is under the ground in an area that has enough moisture and the right amount of acidity. It normally takes 50+ years to have this happen. The hedge above ground remains yellow.

Stump, which is the worst to work with: snakewood, corian, delrin, or Westinghouse micarta? I’ve heard horror stories about all of them.

Will never turn old school Westinghouse micarta again as it contains asbestos. Did it once and that's it. They changed their formulas to remove the asbestos and even changed their name to distance themselves from the stigma of the law suits. Today's micarta has no asbestos but the dust it produces smells unGodly and even with a collector gets in places. Which is why I will not turn micarta in general anymore.
Corian is easy to drill and turn BUT those cork tabs snaps snap like crazy. So I sleeve all the Corian calls I build.
Delrin sucks!!!!! Well the strings suck. Delrin drills and turns easy as can be but takes 2 to 3 times longer to turn due to having to stop the lathe after each pass to remove the ribbons that wrap around everything. And lastly, it doesn't sand, buff or polish for squat. But I do like the sound.
Snakewood...is the devil of woods. Stuff will crack on you if you look at it wrong. Get it hot, crack. To much pressure drilling, crack. Not dried properly, crack. Old saying is, if your gonna make a snakewood call be sure to turn two as one is gonna crack on you in the end. Also, it has to be sleeved at all times.

So my list would be....worst to not as bad....
Micarta
Delrin
Snakewood
Corian
