Got some sage grouse this past weekend !!
Those are probably my favorite bird to hunt. Super jealous!
Have an owhyee tag burning a hole in my pocket. No chance I can make it though. Booked 2 days off to head over there last night.
I was not so pleasantly reminded today is my 25th wedding anniversary and we made plans months ago.
Awesome birds, they really cut the tag numbers back for next year. Birds aren’t doing so good
Great!! To me, there is not much prettier than a healthy expanse of sage along with bunchgrasses and small springs to keep both the rancher and the hunter happy.
Sounds like my mule deer spot I’ve been hunting for 20 years. Love the sage!
Nothing better than following a bird dog thru the sage !!!
How does the deer/turkey hunting there work? Assume it’s a drawing? I fished there last year (it was amazing) and saw a ton of turkeys and deer. Such a cool area.
What area in general? The entire state is OTC for turkeys. Get 2 or 3 tags.
Eastern Oregon is draw for mule deer.
OTC for western Oregon blacktails.
The Owyhee area. Thanks
FWIW: The mule deer population has been declining since the 1960's according to the old-timers. The hard winter of 2016-2017 decimated the mule deer and antelope numbers in Eastern Oregon. The turkeys have been increasing steadily over the past 40 years.
