I found a few birds this morning. This is the first mallard of the season for me. My shooting was a little rusty or I’d have a few more. Let’s see what you’ve got so far.

Since duck season isn't here yet for me, Yesterday my son and I decided to visit the bass pond. Fishing was predictably slow, but on the plus side there was 15 or so mallards hanging out. I was pretty much successful in not disturbing them. About 9 am my son decided (since yesterday was the quail opener) to get his gun outta his truck and see if he could scratch up something while I hung out with the bass. About 15 minutes later shots rang out then a bit later more shots. While the shots were a few hundred yards away and out of sight of the pond, about half the mallards jumped and took off. More than likely they'll be back. Anyway, no bass pictures taken, but here's some quail...

Congrats on the greenhead. I’m sure it’s just the first of many more for you this season. I gotta wait until the BOS opener on Sat for duck hunting. But I did take advantage of the ridiculously good ocean conditions to catch 9 reds and a blue on my kayak.

That green head was lucky I only had one she'll in my gun.... But I'm more tickled that you got him.

Thanks. I missed 2 so I hope they went your way. I ended my morning with 3 drake mallards and 2 hen widgeon. Should have shot a limit but that’s okay. I told the family I’d be home by 4:00 so I called it at 10:00 am.
