Kansas is so 2020. Nebraska is the real promise land......

Diversionary tactics will not work. Kansas is the promised land.

I really like what I’m reading about Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The new Global warming wintering grounds, duck production area, and tons of public hunting.

Might have to hitch the boat and head north next year. Gotta get a jump on the gulf coast OOS’ers.

@Ritter We’ve gotten quite a few corn impoundments in my area . On a vanilla weather day ducks now tend roost / feed in the flooded corn after hours all night and first light fly back to the refuge .

It’s almost like an old Elmer Fudd cartoon .

I had always thought the same thing, with the amount of ducks using it, it would surely get fed out in no time. That didn't seem to be the case the last couple years.

30 acres of flooded corn isn't getting "fed out in no time"! That's a quarter million pounds of corn!!
To answer your original question...I do believe a 30 acre impoundment could have adverse effects to the hunting in the area. A 20 mile radius isn't that large of an area.

I hunt an area...if it floods...damn near every duck within 40 miles eventually will be there.

It's not all that but can be. I've hunted more than one place that had 3 or 4000 acres of flooded corn and other duck food crops. You can get skunked there too.
It's not as simple as grow bird seed and wait.
^^^This! Got an excellent draw at a IN F&WA, we chose the flooded cornfield next to the refuge- feel asleep it was so dead. we got ONE shot at a Woodie & that was it!

I'm pretty sure you're thinking barney bear.
The cartoon had a time clock..Ducks dancing on the boat until the clock says shooting time then they're gone up in the sky crisscrossing.
Lots of funny stuff the then clock strikes noon? And the ducks are dancing on the boat again.
Cha cha cha cha CHA
QUACK....

SOUND FAMILIAR?
it's barney bear

Tom and Jerry did duck hunting too.
Cat wings a baby drake mallard...

Anything good is gone online.
This is as close as it gets .
Gun and duck call....and you can't watch it because of that gun.
Damn. I tried.

If flooded food sources are legal, than dumping food sources in the water should be legal too. That way the playing field will be leveld between your average middle class duck hunter and those who have the money to flood impoundments.
