Looks like redhead hens and maybe European wigeon drakes?

They look good to me. Good work on the colors, you really nailed it. :tu

I wish I had a reason to carve those red headed wigeon. They're my favorite bird to target when I find them around here.

Theyre meant to be Eurasian Widgeon , over here they come in large numbers in the winter and are the foreshore wildfowlers main duck .

Do you see many American Wigeon? Just thinking you probably get stray Americans like we get stray Eurasians.

Billy Bob , have never seen an America Wigeon over here , there may well have been the odd "stray" but certainly not here in any kind of numbers and if there were our shooting laws mean that it would be illegal to shoot one as all accidental migrants are protected .

Interesting. Over here about 1 of 100 wigeon is a drake Eurasian and accidentals are legal.

Billy Bob , we have some fairly ridiculous shooting laws , protecting accidental migrants is one of them , we have a lot of pressure from anti hunting/shooting groups that are constantly trying to reduce our sport , the 2 big plusses compared to the USA is a season that runs from 1st September through to 20th February for all duck and geese and no bag limits , the lack of bag limits has pros and cons , some shoot large numbers of geese over decoys only to dump them in a ditch , this gives ammunition to the antis .
