I have had the gun since new and it's a few yrs old. I shoot a case or so of 3" duck loads a yr out of it. This yr all of a sudden it will dent the primer but not always discharge. I thought well maybe it's just a bad shell here and there BUT started switching out with my sons and no matter what shell I try they would ALL do it intermittently. ALL shells were then recycled through my sons guns and ALL discharged just fine. Any ideas ?

I have sent it off to Benelli already but still wondering

Ever oil the firing pin? if its oiled it can gel and slow the pin down.

I’ve broken TWO firing pins in autos. Both fired most of the time with the broken pin. Primer dents when they didn’t. May not be broke...may be gummed up...but pull the pin and spring and you’ll see a problem.

try also "rejuvenating" the firing pin spring to give it some more speed back onto the primer when it releases.

Pull the pin and clean. Make sure the bolt operates smoothly in the bolt body, clear of burs. The spring gets gunked up, clean and stretch it. I’ve had the intensity for about 5-6 years and has been very reliable.

I'll echo what others have said. Completely take apart the bolt. Remove every piece possible (there's tons of youtube videos on this) and clean everything. I had the same problem and after doing the above more frequently, I've never had the problem again.

Similar to what Mark suggested, check the firing pin spring. I’ve had one break on one on my Franchi shotguns.

He probably should have asked the question, took the advice and tried some stuff before sending back. So.....
