So many people want a “green” world but when their stuff breaks they throw it away and just buy new stuff. A young man down the street called me this afternoon and wanted advice on buying a used mower he had his eye on. Told him it didn’t sound like a good mower.

Jumped on FB and had a free, self propelled mower in the drive within 45 minutes. Runs perfect and only needs new drive wheels for $25.00. The kid now has a mower.

I have probably 10 mowers, including 4 riders and have probably spent less than $200.00 on the whole fleet. Amazing what folks throw away!

What have you got for free or stupid cheap??

Buy mowers all the time on the cheap ..and usually just a clogged carb fix and they are up and running for less than a 5 .00 gasket
Bought 4 brand new like bycycles for the grand kids christmas presents for less than 80 bucks ,,Which they will grow out of in a couple years ,,so why buy new

I’m always on the lookout for mowers. My family tells me I have a problem but each of my boys is using a mower I got for free. A few years ago I bought a JD345 for $150.00. I asked the guy if the engine was blown up? Nope, his wife didn’t want him to mow anymore! I love guys like him!

The free stuff on FB marketplace is fun to browse. Seem real garbage you need to pay someone to haul away. But there is some good stuff. You can’t give pianos away anymore but people sure try. Looking at some and you think the wood in them would be worth something for someone who wanted to take it apart. some have solid maple, walnut, cherry, etc. not sure what else is salvageable. I guess the issue is getting them moved.

    This is me....

Me - my lawn mower won't run
Dude - what us wrong with it?
Me - well, it doesn't run
Dude - yes, but what is the issue?
Me - well, it doesn't make the running engine sound.
Dude - I'll take it off your hands and cut your grass this summer
    Me - deal
