    I remember when Galveston harbor went Kaboom in 1977, fertilizer, a little diesel, and a fire on a ship.

    That building standing beside the crater suggests the majority of the blast went straight up and not out.

    that kinda indicates some sorta bunker/underground facility. Otherwise the blast would have traveled laterally instead of straight up.

    Looks like a concrete grain elevator and storage. Obviously destroyed but I’m shocked it’s still standing.

    it leveled things even behind the grain silo. I don’t think you can draw such conclusions from this picture.

    As a kid I lived in San Pedro, Ca. 2 blocks off the water.
    In 1976 a tanker blew up. 800’ long SS Sansinena.
    Shattered our back sliding door and wreaked havoc.
    Til the day I day die, I will never, ever forget my dad saying “boys, the Russians attacked, get ready!”
    The mushroom cloud I witnessed is etched forever in my brain.
