    Good fortune on Saturday afternoon.
    Twenty degree's, snow flurries, brown dog, Model 12 heavy, and big white bird... classic. IMG_0073.jpg
    Bismuth 2's in 1-1/4 Longshot loading was the medicine for this big fella.

    Wow that's bad medicine those # 2's , even if you didn't buffer them ! One under the chin has a way of not needing any more , though ?
    How far was the shot and a guess at the weight ? Here we can't shoot the suckers but heard they were fair eating ?

    Probably 35 yards, maybe 40ish. Lead the head, as it's damn near big as a green wing teal body :l They are a good eating bird.

    No, it only fell about 20 feet from us. She ran out and pounced on it and looked at me like: "What in the hell did you shoot dad!?" lol

    I am told that it can be dangerous to send s dog to retrieve a wounded swan as they have talons that can do some damage to a dog, particularly his eyes.

    I forgot about cranes, thier beaks, but never swans. But I'm sure if he wasn't hit very hard he could beat the **** out of a dog. This one is bigger than that dog, But obviously don't weigh as much.
