Exact same scenario for me this season...had a flock jump up thousands coming over at 30 yds...picked out the dark one and BANG! My first blue.....straight to the taxidermist with him. Mine didn't get a first class front seat ride though!
lucky you had the chance to wait..if you go with a guide and there are 8 other guns, you will never get that chance!!!! ha ha......
I think I'm in a shot a greater snow the other day. Is a big, heavy, devil with a longer neck than the average lesser. Just seem bigger all around.
Human nature - a blue in a flock of 1000 snows is going to get shot...a snow in a flock of 1000 blues will get shot...a Canada in a flock of specs, yep, shot...a spec in a flock of Canadas will be shot.
Most of the greater snow geese that I shot in NJ had reddish brown stained faces. Pure white ones are very rare where I hunt.
