I’ve been dating a great lady for a while who has always wanted to hunt but never really had the opportunity. I took her to Colorado for an antelope hunt last year and she only needed one shot, a fine shot through the heart at 305 yards! Her big smile was priceless.

Fast forward to Saturday night and a fun dinner at Woolgrowers in Los Banos. After a tough nights sleep we rose and picked our blind and headed out. It took her a few three shot salutes to figure it out but when a flock of redheads came cruising through it all came together and her first duck was on the water. A few minutes later a beautiful Drake greenwing came a little too close and a single shot from the little 20 ga put him on the water too. He will soon have a date with Tanner Mathews so that he can live in infamy on her wall. It was one of my most least productive hunts of the season but seeing the joy and excitement in her eyes made it my favorite hunt of the year. Can’t wait to get her out again.

Why does the greenwing go to Tanner and not the redhead? A redhead for a first duck is pretty gangster

Because the redhead was a hen and just not as pretty as the drake greenwing. If it had been a drake I would have agreed with you. And more importantly, that’s what she wanted :yes

You still have that spoony shirt?

She looks a lot better than my hunting partner and shoots better than him too!
