For the past three years my son has been working for a construction company in Portland that specializes in re-habbing old commercial buildings, updating them, and bringing them up to code. He started as a laborer, but after a few months they asked him to start working with the master plumber. He really likes it, but although he was getting training, he wasn't in the union, so a few weeks ago the Union put out a call for apprentices applications. He applied, took all the tests and last week he did the interview, there were 25 people on the interview board. Long story short, he got a letter from the Plumbers union AND the Steamfitters union. He's #22 on the plumbers union list and #24 on the Steamfitters union list. I'm very happy for him!
