This is Lake Superior around Munising, MI.
More of Munising, MI area
Kitchi-iti-kipi. That water is around 40-50’ deep. It’s just completely clear. It never freezes as the water stays consistently 40-50*. This is in the Upper Peninsula before Munising.
This is the sleeping bear dunes. West of Traverse City along Lake Michigan. I believe you are roughly 400’ above the lake at this lookout. Lots of hiking to do around here.
You get the idea though. It’s a beautiful area with lots to do. I’ve heard the north shore of Superior is really awesome as well. I love Canada and the Canadian people are as friendly as they come. Lots of great beer over there that you can’t get here too.
I'll second SB2MAG's recommendation. The SS Beaver will save you driving around the southern tip of Lake Michigan. If the weather is nice it is a pleasant trip too!
Something to add. I used to deliver to a Dairy Queen in central Minnesota, and owner stated that these days school activities start second half of August so families going to their cabins have really tapered off in the past few years. May be a lot easier to find lodging the 3/4 week of August.
Just went there last month. Awesome!
Kitchi-iti-kipi - those "craters" in the first picture is the spring water comping up thru the fine sand bottom. A place well worth visiting. I could spend all summer in the UP and not have enough time to do everything I wanted to. Then there is the awesome fall in the UP.... but never mind... there are no grouse in the UP.
I'm sure glad I asked for help here. After getting a taste of the area through the pictures posted and reading all the positive and helpful things we are gonna go for sure, just hope we can put it together for this August, if not there is always next year.
