Drk9988 I love ya brother , but your wrong . Actually dead nuts wrong about the Hen Talk . It’s one of thee loudest calls in my entire collection and you can push it as loud as you have the air for .
As the “Mayor of Realville” anymore around here it’s appearing . I have no biased to any one call nor have I sold my soul out to any one company . I just tell it like it is and can back it up with soundfile for proof if and when need be .
Here is an actual soundfile of the Hen Talk . I’d be comfortable to set up next to anyone with this kind of volume and I don’t think they would do much shooting but don’t take my word for it . Here’s just a taste of the volume and about 50% of what the call can do . Mind you I haven’t blown this call in 10 years so , so cut me some slack .
It has the volume, and I'm surprised it actually rings. That said, the double reed held you back on the very quiet stuff. It fell flat on it's face, and I noticed you shut the recording down right when it did

That is my gripe with doubles. You tune for volume, and you lose the low end. Tune for low end, and you lose the volume. I've got a new run Duck Commander Cutdown Reacher, that is that way. It has volume, but you can't do soft little puts with it. Of course it's made for reaching out there. I'm spoiled by single reeds that can reach out there, but can also get real soft.
Buck Gardners 1 1/2 reed, and Hobos double reed, are the two with extra reeds that I know of that can get soft. There's probably others, but I venture to say probably not many .
BTW have you tried RM calls? RM calls are really good, and much better than those extra reed calls. RM calls are hard to beat. You should really try a RM call. Did I mention how good RM calls are
