Reading back it looks like we have something in common.. I used to collect Lares too... Was my go-to sold my soul!!!! Then one day I was like hmmmmmmm maybe there is something better. I went on a call buying binge and ended up with some RM calls.. My first day in the field with RM I was blowing a FTM. (Trevor has voiced how much he hates it over and over) It was undeniable how amazing this call was in the field. It took one hunt for me too see the drastic difference... Went home sold most of my Lares and have never looked back.. Would never consider a double reed don't feel like my game is lacking at all....I can roll with that DRK9988 . Well said

I think he wanted to show the volume, and that it could ring. I was impressed he got it to ring. Not world stage ring, but could be useful. The rest was flat, but it was the call, not the operator. Probably the tune on it. You cleared it up

@drk9988 , Interesting absolutely we all have a lot in common ! I miss this kind of back and forth banter years ago we always had great conversation here at the calling forums with pictures and soundfiles . Most of that has disappeared ? No one has ever agreed on everything but sometimes a good discussion is good to bring into perspective .
I hate to get too off track on the thread but years ago I do remember you and I discussing Joe Lares calls quite often . At the time you seemed to prefer the T-1 over everything . I felt the ACH had the best top to bottom of any of Joe’s calls until I purchased one of those Magnum Hens for my collection last year ??
Like I said I’ve never even held and RM but it sounds like it has a very strong following . I’m so far out of the loop I don’t get into all the stuff like you guys do , but I like it better that way . Some times I have to “come in some” rather than “get out some“ .

Yes Yes the T-1 was my call for long time..... I was hunting a spot late in the season where we were killing ducks nowhere a duck would ever want to be... We were trafficking them in the middle of a sage brush desert... No food no water no reason for a duck to die. That day I felt like the T-1 just didn't have what I needed....Whelp I opened my eyes found the answer and have never looked back. Glad I wasn't hard headed. I think I have 4 Lares left and they just don't do it for me anymore. Great calls great guy running the company they just don't work as well for me putting ducks into the decoys...

Can I inquire? have you had a chance to play with the Lares Mag Hen? The reason I ask is because I am a big Lares fan and my go to call the last few years has been the T1. I purchased the Mag Hen this year and it definitely has worked it's way as the go to call on my lanyard. I feel it is a step above the others. Was wondering your take on it if you have had the chance to compare? And so you know, I ordered a pre-built RM CWF that is on it's way so will be able to draw my own conclusions in the near future.

I tried a A5 and hated it. Still think it's the worst high dollar call I've ever tried. Just harsh awfulness. Yuck 
When everybody raved about it being so good, and not your typical Lares. I was intrigued. Thought I would give it a try, knowing I could sell it easily, if it was not for me. I figured it would be not for me. I just knew!
I was surprised that, it wasn't too bad with stock timing. Still way to harsh for my style. I ordered a reed kit for it, but none of them were really right. I cut my own reed for it, and it makes a world of difference!
Added more "hold" to it, but can handle alot more air. Gained some more volume as well. Still has a tendency to get to harsh if really pushing air through it, like a loud drawn out "meat" hail.
It sounds kinda like a Daisy Cutter, but with alot more hold. Still has its own unique sound. IMO if they would dial the natural rasp back a decent amount, when putting more air through it. They would have a call, that can put any version of the Daisy Cutter to shame! Yes, any and all versions of the DC, including the OSDC!

Have you tried the other lares calls? I think the A5 is my least favorite one of the bunch (unless it metal) and the others are much more user friendly. Hope your not judging the whole line off one call? The new Mag hen has the least rattle and smoothest to run than any of them IMHO. If lares isn't for you that is fine but I personally don't see a need to run down a line because it wasn't what you thought it would be for you. My way of thinking is its uncool tagging a call the worst high dollar call on a public forum. Also I wasn't really asking about the A5 but was looking for a comparison of the Mag Hen and CWF.
