    Not sure if this will screw the thing up. My concern is will this let water into the battery compartment?

    That’s what I would do. Bead of Caulk or Construction adhesive.

    I caulked mine as they started leaking...the battery boxes are supposed to be sealed in case of water anyway...

    New ones are junk. Old 12 volt ones were junk too but I have somehow fixed, patched, replaced etc to keep them alive for a decade.

    They're light years better than the mojo ones.

    If use through the roof, or lexel on it. They stick better than silicon

    I bought 2 new ones this year along with extra batteries. I put the batteries together and then sealed the entire box in black silicone. They’ve been holding up great.
