I am surprised you have any left. It usually goes quick.
Looking forward to another episode of sitting around the table.

I am starting to feel better.
Starting to get my cockiness back, but problem is I can’t back it up yet.

I have good days, and then all of a sudden, I am wiped out for no reason.
Docs say…. That is just part of the recovery for Covid longhaulers.

I have been trying wean myself off the oxygen when moving around.
Probably not the smartest thing I have done.
I figured I could get on the zero turn and cut the grass today. I made about 3 passes, checked oxygen, and levels had dropped.
immediately went in house, and heard water running.
Float valve in toilet broke. Turned water off and oxygen levels had really dropped by then.

Sat in my chair, called a buddy, he came and put a new kit in toilet, saw zero turn sitting in the yard.
Told him what happened, and he climbed on, and mowed yard for me.

Hoping to start pulmonary/activity rehab next week.
Keep your chin up and don't get frustrated. Keep remembering every day is a win despite the struggle. Good luck with the rehab!

It has been over a month, update time.

I am still progressing. At this point, it seems to be small steps.
But at least steps.

I have seen numerous specialists in the past month.

Vision- I have alignment issues, and have “double stamped” vision ( basically see double).
Also feel pressure behind left eye, with pain ( like it is being pushed from the back).
The Doc said, she believes it is a side effect of the Covid, and being prone/face down while on ventilator. Her belief is it will go away.

Heart- Saw a Cardiologist, based on referral from pulmonologist.
Cardiologist did not see any thing he was concerned about.
He did say he wants to have me set up for a 24 hour heart exam ( get wires attached like EKG, wear a little box to record data. Basically to check function, and see why heart rate spikes/declines all over the place.

Lungs- Pulmonologist had me do a sleep study, and I was diagnosed with sleep apnea ( apparently a side effect from Covid and the pneumonia ). I had been tested a couple years ago, and was negative.
so have to go in for another sleep study, wear a CPAP and see if makes a difference.
I am still on the oxygen concentrator at night while sleeping.
Supposed to also be getting a portable oxygen concentrator for when out and about.

Other issues- apparently the coughing from Covid/pneumonia, I tore the lining in my chest/stomach causing a hiatal hernia which causes acid reflux. ( going to need surgery to fix, but all Docs do not recommend at this time. Say my body is not strong enough/healed enough to be put under for surgery).
I also ripped a muscle in my neck from all the coughing. Not sure what will happen for that. Saw Doc last week.

I am still not as active as I wish I was. BUT…..every Doc is amazed at the progress I have made, from where I was in Dec., Jan., and Feb.

I have been off the ventilator a little over 4 months now.
I have good days, and then bad days.
I still get extremely exhausted, but I know that is going to happen.

Two of my buddies took me out to shoot sporting clays yesterday, I was only able to make it to the 5th station and I was whipped. I was at least able to hold a gun and shoot, although I missed a lot. ( going to blame it on the vision issues mentioned above).:yes

These same guys took me to a Turkey shoot in March, and I had a hard time lifting the gun to shoot. After 4 shots, I was done.

Now with all the above being said. I feel I am blessed.
For the outcome could of been very much different, and at least I am here.

Again,
Thank You to all for the prayers, words of encouragement, the texts, phone calls, and the very generous donations.
I and my family are very grateful.

Hang in there Holes! Every step, no matter how big or small, is a step. Lots of steps to still make but you’ll get there. Prayers sent your way that you continue to get better and for better reports each visit.

Thanks for the update Holes and praying for continued progress to a full recovery!! :tu,

But not wanting to be a smart ***, the 2 fella's that took you to that turkey shoot, should have done the same thing as a buddy and I did one time ;)
We each lined up opposite and next to him and shot his target, so he would win!!
After all, what are friends for :grvn
