That looks identical to what is called Silver Bass in Ontario. We used to catch them by the bucketful during their spawning run on the Sturgeon River in June. They averaged 2-3lbs

It does look like some kind of bass, rather than perch.....I think. :l

We used to catch white bass by the bucketful in eastern Kansas when they came up the river to spawn, 2-3 lbs and great fighters. Lots of folks call them sandies. Delicious.

They aren't a true perch. Unless I'm mistaken they are in the same family as stripers and white bass. Alot of fun on light tackle and great in some hot grease. They school up pretty good. A couple times I've caught around 100 and barely moved the boat, ultralight and a beetle spin. If they got to be the size of a largemouth they eat everything else in the water. I've caught them on 3/8 Oz spinnerbaits bass fishing.

Hit some lake michigan tributaries for steelhead. They were all blown out and muddy. Fished hard to no avail. Switched to some harbors. Managed a couple coho over a month earlier than normal. That made for a good day with good family and friends.
