Went ultralight jigging in 54 degree Sturgeon Pond this evening on a warm, sunny day with a moderate west wind. Caught and released 8 black crappies, 3 largemouth bass to 16” and a bluegill with a 1/32 oz twister tail jig on 2 lb test line. Beavers were slapping their tails on the water. Turtle heads were sticking out of the pond. Caught green slime algae on nearly every cast. Saw a common carp > 10 lbs come out of the water < 15’ away. Canada geese, mallards, wood ducks, great blue heron, blackbirds, hawks and vultures were flying. Took pics. Lots of briars are in the woods. Wore my Cabela’s neoprene chest waders. Found a bobber and hubcap. Saw lots of tiny minnows near the shore.
Went ultralight jigging in 52 degree Turnmill Pond this evening on a warm, sunny day with a strong south wind. Saw another fisherman catch and release a few fish. I caught and released 8 pickerel to 14” and a 12” yellow perch with a black 1/8 oz leadhead jig and 2” black twister tail on 4 lb test line. Saw a flock of ringneck ducks, mallards, wood ducks, Canada geese, great blue heron, belted kingfisher, vultures, doves, and crows. Took pics. Heard spring peepers the last two evenings. Didn’t lose a lure during my last two fishing trips.
I haven’t really gotten to go as much as I’d like yet. I got four days approved off this week from work and it’s poured for every single of em. Now all our lakes and ponds are chock full and muddy. Water is flowing super fast. Prolly mess me up for a couple weeks
