Went to ShopRite to buy corn meal. Didn’t find Quaker yellow corn meal. Bought Indian Head instead. Recooked my old corn meal mush bait with new ingredients, then went carping in 70 degree Carnegie Lake in the evening. Parking lot wasn’t filled. Intruders were in my spot so I tried my backup spot. Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught nothing with a 1/32 oz twister tail jig on 2 lb test line. A big fish hit my whole kernel corn bait, then swam into the candocks and escaped. Lost two of the hooks on my three hook corn rig. Stopped fishing with corn and also stopped ultralight jigging. Caught a spawned out 15 lb female common carp on my last cast with twice cooked homemade corn meal on a #8 red treble hook and 12 lb test line. Landed 27 common carp this year.

NJ You ever get any feedback on your tags or is it just to see if you catch them again?

Took 81 years old brother Joe and 70 years old friend Dave fishing in Manasquan Inlet this evening during a cold, sunny nor’easter on the incoming tide. We caught 12 bluefish. Not bad for 3 old guys. I didn’t see anyone catch a fish. I caught, tagged and released an 18” bluefish on a spoon soon after I started fishing. Then I didn’t get a hit for nearly 2 hours. After the incoming current got swift, I caught, tagged and released a bluefish double on an Ava A-17 and brother John’s homemade synthetic buck tail teaser. Soon after that I caught, tagged and released my first ever bluefish triple with 2 teasers and a plain hook Ava A-17. Catching my bluefish limit on one cast was awesome . Then a bluefish bit off my teaser. After that, a bluefish bit off my Ava. Just before I left, I caught, tagged and released my seventh and final bluefish for the day. Caught 32 fish: 25 bluefish, 5 hickory shad, a fluke and a kingfish in 12 trips to the inlet this year. Tagged 27 fish: 25 bluefish, a fluke and a kingfish. None were recaptured yet.

Went for a little while Sat and Sun afternoon to run my boat some after working on it and because the wind actually somewhat cooperated. First cast with a senko Sat this dude bit and got its teeth tangled in the line. Redeemed myself a little later with about a 3½ pounder.

Started decent Sun, caught 3 bass, a dang nice jack and a warmouth with a high opinion of its self in the first 30 minutes. Fished 2 more hours for one more bass.
