I used to belong to a duck club that only allowed hunting with 20 gauge or smaller. I’ve killed a lot of ducks and geese with my 20 gauge Montefeltro. I still use it quite a bit for ducks and geese. I like Kent Faststeel 4s with a light mod choke, anything larger and you start blowing your pattern (at least that’s been my experience).

If you take that 1971 and run 3 shot out of it you’ll have something you won’t put down 1375 FPS

Been there....prefer the pattern density of the 4s.

To each their own, that is a good load as well, I just find the 3’s do a better job on the big ducks, also do a better job on woodies witch is what I normally would hunt wit that gun.

Old pump with a fixed modified choke. Used to run 3" 1oz #3's. Now I use 2 3/4" 4's and 6's. Like others have said, pattern density is most important.

Not regularly but I have, with good results. Used to carry one jump shooting woodies on the creek and loved it for that.

I love my 20ga Monti with IC or Skeet a tube 2 3/4'' steel 4's or 5's works best for me.
Or Bismuth 6's and an LM tube.

Have shot one of the early HK imported Montefeltro 20s for some duck hunting since the '90s and almost exclusively every open day of the last 15 seasons for ducks and often geese. Kent's 2 3/4" Upland Steel 5s (through factory IC) became my favorite loads some years ago and have remained so, but I'm not at all fussy about loads - just about fooling birds large and small into being where I want them.
