They can climb right out of a dog kennel.

But their landing is less than graceful.

They still prefer easier terrain than stuff that up and over. But when faced with being dinner they do what it takes.

The one I cleaned was the biggest turtle I have ever seen. A old farmer with a bad hip had hooked him in his pond multiple times but couldn't get him out. He just wanted him out of his pond .
We were putting a room addition on for him at the time. Told him id go some night after work with him and we'd rid his pond of the beast.
Took about 10 minutes to hook and land him .
If I remember the shell was about 23 inches front to back.
Not having anyplace to cleanse it I kinda chopped its head of with a corn knife and threw it in the bed of the pickup.
it was still crawling when I got home.
Got the head off, and hung by the tail, legs moved the whole time I butchered the dam thing.
Wife refused to cook it , so mom said she would, as uncle Jerome's was always good .
It was terrible , nothing like uncle Jerome's.
I think there is a good bit of Truth to cleansing them in clean water.

The spectrum of meat from a turtle is from red to white.

Is that on a scale that goes from:

Sketchy——> to barely edible ——> I’m not sure I should be eating this ——> to its meat —-> it’s not bad —-> interesting —-> I’d eat that again.

It something g to that effect?

After I gave a snapping turtle to a Chinese restaurant, they gave me snapper soup that was delicious. The meat was like white meat chicken.
